The Pacific Fire Vine Maple is a spectacular red-twigged dwarf tree that glows all winter, bringing brilliance and light into your garden during the quietest time of year. It grows into a small tree perhaps 10 feet tall and 6 feet wide, and the twigs and branches are colored brilliant red – the brightest twigs of all of the red-twigged winter plants. The beautiful leaves are rounded, but divided into many deep lobes, resembling its relatives the Japanese maples. But this tree is much easier to grow, and much more resistant to summer dryness. So if you love Japanese maples, but have had trouble growing them well, then the Pacific Fire Vine Maple is the tree to grow – just as beautiful, but less effort. This tree will thrive in any garden, from the chilly areas in zone 5 to the warm winters of zone 9.

  • Brilliant red winter twigs and branches
  • Vibrant fall colors of yellow, orange and red
  • Perfect small tree only 10 feet tall
  • Ideal specimen for smaller gardens and shady corners
  • Easier to grow than Japanese maples, but just as beautiful

Your Pacific Fire Vine Maple will thrive in full sun or partial shade, enjoying some afternoon shade in hot regions of the country. It will grow well in any garden soil and is free of pests or diseases. You do not even need to prune it to enjoy the brilliant red color – every branch and stem of the tree blazes with red all winter long. In fall the leaves turn into a bonfire of yellow, orange and red tones, before falling to reveal the beautiful red bark. For lovers of winter color in the garden, this tree is the perfect choice.
